Houston-based Mike Ancherani and Andrew Legro from Avree Custom Pools explain how Moasure helps them cut measuring time, improve pricing accuracy, and elevate client confidence across pool remodels and new pool construction projects.
Results at a Glance
Since adopting Moasure in 2024, Mike and Andrew have:
- Cut site measurement time by over 80% – from 2 hours to 20 minutes.
- Improved estimates by removing extra 15% material buffer.
- Realized their Moasure investment on the first job.
Producing Professional Pools
The goal is simple: to help clients bring their vision of a backyard oasis to life, in a way that combines functionality, design, and durability. The team at Avree, including Mike on the remodeling side, and Andrew on the new construction side, approach each project – no matter the scale – with a focus on accuracy, creativity, and collaboration.
Whether it’s pool construction from scratch, or pool remodeling, gathering those key measurements from the beginning of a pool project is crucial. Like many pool contractors, Mike and Andrew deal with irregular, freeform pool designs – alongside accounting for measurements like the house, pool deck, and patio area too.
When Bill, one of Avree's owners, came across Moasure, he wondered if motion-based measuring could be the answer to their troubles with traditional tools, tackling winding curves and unusual arcs. Mike says:
“[Bill] started looking into it, asked if we wanted to give this device a try, and said, 'Let's order it.'"
The Challenge
Irregular Areas, Unreliable Data Reports, Time Lost
Mike and Andrew previously relied on multiple traditional tools to help them achieve their desired measurements. On the new construction side, Andrew reveals how important certain measurements, like elevation changes, were for this stage of the new pool build:
“We used a split level, which was very manual, time-consuming to take elevations. Elevations are super important with a pool. You want everything flat. It was hour, hour and a half, two hours on site just doing the initial measurements.”
For Mike’s remodels, it was a case of averaging out measurements for the best chance of getting it right:
“We had a walking wheel. We walked the pool, checked the perimeter, and then we would get the average length and width – go off averages of what it would be. So it would be a plus or minus, usually 10 to 15%.”
Once they got their data from the site, they’d then have to manually write down their dimensions with a pen and paper to record it. Andrew shares how handwritten notes added to the dissatisfaction:
“The frustrations I had – if it was raining, if my notes got wet because everything was written down – where did I put 'em? I could lose my notes.”
Struggling to find a solution, Mike and Andrew were running the risk of losing their measurements, unable to stop them from becoming unreadable by the weather. With multiple different tools being used – and still encountering issues – they decided it was time to try out Moasure.
The Solution
A New Way to Measure Pool Sites
Transitioning from traditional tools to a motion-based device was certainly a change for the team. As the first and only tool of its kind, Moasure prompted some initial concerns around ease of use and accuracy – but those doubts didn’t last long. Andrew shares:
“I was a little skeptical at first on how to actually operate the device and the operating system itself. Not super technological savvy, so I was a little concerned about that. But first impressions were – it really helped out.”
Despite those initial concerns, Andrew quickly adapted after watching Moasure’s tutorial videos online, helping him to understand how Moasure works:
“I would say it was a lot easier than I thought. I watched a couple of the intro videos and little how-tos, and then pretty much just went to work in the backyard with it. I was super surprised with how consistent it was.”
Similarly, Mike found that hands-on practice was key to understanding how Moasure works in real-world conditions. The in-app Moasure Coach feature – offering real-time feedback on technique – was especially helpful:
“A little icon pops up that says, ‘Hey, you were moving a little too fast,’ or ‘Hey, you had some sudden turns.’ Then you try it a different way and find, ‘Oh, that’s a little more accurate than the last one.’ And the more you do, the more accurate you become. Now it’s just second nature walking around the backyard.”
Improved Measurement Accuracy
Moasure’s ability to capture accurate data as the device moves around the pool site means there’s no need to rely on guesswork, or add unnecessary mark-up buffers to customer estimates. For Mike, that’s an injustice to the homeowner:
“The key to freeform with this device is it gets me accurate measurements where I can accurately price, rather than just taking overall measurements. Instead of doing all the math, most people throw in an extra 15% or so…with this device, you don't have to.”
Improved measurements mean more accurate estimates, and greater transparency for both the team at Avree and their customers directly. Andrew notes how convenient it is having his measurement data stored on his phone in the Moasure app, ready to review data wherever, and whenever he needs to.
“Now everything’s right on my phone. I’m able to go into the app, check things. Even if I’m asleep at night, I just pull out my phone, look at it if I have that wild feeling that I missed something. So it’s really helped cut down on our timeline, our processes, and be more accurate on pricing.”
Quick Exports to Pool Design Software
Comfortably meeting Avree Custom Pool’s expectations for measurement accuracy, Mike uses Moasure’s diagrams to visualize their pool sites in CAD software, ready for design work.
Quick integration with their CAD software means Mike and Andrew don’t have to waste time in manually recreating the site on their computer:
“I used the Moasure, checked it with the tape measure – they were always probably within one to two percent. Extremely accurate on that end of it. Then using the Pool Studio program – you could overlay in there – and those numbers match from Moasure to Pool Studio.”
The process from digital download to design is simple, as Mike tells us:
“With the remodels and doing designs off an existing pool, when you shoot the shape of the pool and the decking, I just take it, export it to a PDF, label it, send it to my email, then import it into the Pool Studio program.”
By using Moasure, Mike not only saves valuable time on his projects, but he can keep his measurements safe in the Moasure app and CAD software too, instead of being ruined by rain and splashes of water. Plus, all of this data can be sent back to the office, before he’s even left the yard.
The Result
Faster Estimates, Better Accuracy, Impressed Customers
Since adopting Moasure in 2024, the team at Avree Custom Pools has dramatically reduced the time spent measuring pool sites, giving them more flexibility to focus on customers, and manage their growing workload. Andrew states:
“I’m in and out of a backyard on the measurement side in about 15 to 20 minutes…time is money in our business. We’re expanding as a company, we’re growing like crazy. So the more time I spend on site, the less time I’m spending with another client answering their questions and helping them. It’s just a time savings all the way around.”
With faster measurements, and money saved, Mike and Andrew also very quickly realized the value Moasure offered to their business:
“I think it paid for itself on the first job. When you're using it every day, it’s quick, clean, accurate measurements.”
In addition to the benefits experienced directly by Mike and Andrew as pool professionals offering a premium service, they also find that Moasure stands out to their customers too:
“After I measure something, I’ll show them my phone, and they get that wow factor when they see the actual picture of their pool on their phone. It’s a really big hit.”
This visual clarity helps build trust from the start, giving clients confidence in the data and in the team’s professionalism. Being able to immediately demonstrate measurement accuracy on-site not only reassures homeowners, but strengthens Avree’s bids on new projects. As Mike puts it:
“Just being in someone’s backyard, giving them the comfort that you’re measuring it properly – and you can show them how accurately you capture things – that goes a long way.”
With Moasure, Mike and Andrew have transformed how they approach pool projects – from first site visit to final design. Moasure has not only streamlined their workflow and improved accuracy, but also elevated the overall customer experience.
With reliable measurements, faster estimates, and visuals that inspire trust, Avree Custom Pools is better equipped than ever to meet growing demand – without compromising on craftsmanship.
