How global playground provider transformed its way of working, by equipping all sales reps with Moasure

Frédéric Jan, marketing director of HAGS France, and Matthias Biek, managing director of HAGS Germany, share how Moasure has revolutionized how their sales teams operate, considerably reducing time spent measuring, making HAGS more competitive, and saving the company money through faster, more reliable, and more accurate measurements.

“After a three-month test phase, we came to the conclusion that our target should be to equip each of our sales representatives with Moasure and only use this measuring tool from January 2022.”

Results at a glance

Moasure’s introduction in 2021 has brought measurable ROI to HAGS:

  • Time savings: Measurement time has been reduced by a factor of 3–4
  • Improved accuracy: No more geoportal checks or rework
  • Team alignment: On-site and office teams work from the same visual data.

Providing Playgrounds & Sports Equipment to Entertain & Inspire

Founded in 1948 in Sweden, HAGS specialises in leisure equipment design, offering everything from playgrounds and sports structures, to urban furniture. Now part of the PlayPower group, a global leader in free-access leisure equipment, HAGS operates across Europe from its UK HQ, with offices in Sweden, France, Germany, Spain, and Denmark, alongside a global distributor network.

With services spanning everything from site quoting, designing, and planning, to manufacturing, installation, and maintenance, HAGS prioritises innovation and safety, especially in the context of public-use equipment.

The Challenge

Red Tape & Testing – Could Moasure Meet HAGS’ Requirements?

“Building playgrounds needs measurements to be carried out, for the equipment themselves but also for the safety areas needed to follow the Europeans safety guidelines.” said Matthias.

Before adopting Moasure, HAGS relied heavily on tape measures and other manual methods to measure for playground equipment – this was a time-consuming, labour-intensive task.

Things changed in 2021, when the HAGS UK office discovered the world’s first motion-based measuring device, Moasure ONE, through an online ad. Skeptical at first, only one device was ordered – but after successfully testing the tool, they quickly invested in ten more.

Following the UK team’s success, HAGS France ordered two Moasure devices to test under real conditions. Frédéric assigned one to a sales rep for customer-focused use, and one to a technical expert for jobsite evaluation.

“I decided to entrust the first unit to one of my salespersons in order to evaluate the product on a purely business and customer experience level. At the same time, I entrusted the second unit to one of our works experts to evaluate the tool from a more technical point of view. Adhesion to the tool was quick for both.”

With successful outcomes, HAGS France ordered five more Moasures, then HAGS Germany followed suit after conducting similar rigorous internal testing.

Matthias said: “Moasure went through thorough testing. During those tests, we noticed that this device was simple and accurate and that slopes could also be measured.”

They found that Moasure was not only capable of capturing three-dimensional spaces and allows its users to review the drawings on the app in real time, but it also provides gradient, rise & fall or height difference between two points, an invaluable feature for HAGS.

The Solution

Switching to Forward-Thinking Tech to Save Time & Money

Frédéric explains the shift in process:

“Before Moasure, we used to carry out our measurements with a measuring tape before sending them to the office to record them on AutoCAD. For the sake of reliability, we were also careful to check each measurement taken via a geoportal service. This is no longer needed today thanks to Moasure”, explains Frédéric.

Moasure is now used across HAGS to:

  • Survey site boundaries and playground zones
  • Calculate areas quickly and accurately
  • Capture slopes and elevation, useful for equipment like slides
  • Generate instant 2D and 3D exports for CAD software.

“Our playgrounds must meet strict safety standards, so precision is key,” says Frédéric.

The Result

A Seismic Shift to Company-Wide Adoption

The world’s first motion-based measuring tool has been a breath of fresh air at HAGS:

“Moasure has also aroused the curiosity of our customers who are often surprised to see us taking measurements by moving a small device around. They often want to know more, which starts new types of conversations and break from the usual routine”, according to Frédéric.

Today, HAGS uses Moasure to quickly measure and survey a site, and calculate areas.

“The big advantage for us is that we can measure areas quickly and accurately. Our playgrounds must be perfectly designed for safety reasons, so our margin of error is low,” adds Frédéric. “Thanks to Moasure, you can indeed measure an area accurately in as little time as you need to walk around it.”

Using Moasure has enabled HAGS to save money through faster, reliable, and accurate measurements – those measurements can then be exported in several file formats such as PDF, PNG, CSV DWG, and DXF, meaning data can be sent straight to CAD software such as SketchUp, ArcSite, and AutoCAD.

“Another major advantage of Moasure is the immediate availability of 2D and 3D measurement data. This makes its use on CAD softwares much more easier and helps avoid the usual manual data transfer errors while facilitating the communication between our offices and our employees working on sites”, adds Matthias.

At HAGS’ international internal conference, the device received positive feedback across all markets, with Frédéric confirming its adoption has expanded company-wide.

“After a three-month test phase, we came to the conclusion that our target should be to equip each of our sales representatives with Moasure and only use this measuring tool from January 2022.”
